On September 17, 2019, at 09:25 PM, deputies with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of shots fired in the 1900 block of Shawnee Drive in the Cimarron Hills area of unincorporated El Paso County. When deputies arrived on scene, they located a deceased male lying on the sidewalk. The victim was identified as 26-year-old William Underwood, an aspiring rap artist known as “FYL Jackk”.
After years of investigation two suspects have been identified.
On March 7, 2024, 35-year-old Derrick Bernard was arrested for Conspiracy to Commit 1st Degree Murder and Solicitation of First-Degree Murder in connection to Underwood’s death.
On March 11, 2024, 26-year-old Aeeshawn Mathews was arrested for 1st Degree Murder and Conspiracy to commit 1st-degree murder in connection with Underwood’s death.
