2025 Pikes Peak Regional Teen Academy

2025 Pikes Peak Regional Teen Academy

Teen Academy is now full.  We will continue to accept applications that will be put on a waitlist in the event we have cancelations.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and the Colorado Springs Police Department School Resource Officer units are hosting the 10th Annual Pikes Peak Regional Law Enforcement Teen Academy in June 2025. The Teen Academy provides young adults with a unique opportunity to learn about the operations of regional law enforcement agencies in El Paso County. The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and the Colorado Springs Police Department are the host agencies for the 4-day Academy, which will be offered twice in June.

In 2025 we had 100 local teens attend the two academies and the spots filled up quickly.    This year the academies will be held at Vista Ridge High School, located at 6888 Black Forest Road.  The Academy will be offered twice on the following dates:

June 2-5, 2025, from 8:00 am-4:00 pm daily, at Vista Ridge High School

June 9-12, 2025, from 8:00 am-4:00 pm daily, at Vista Ridge High School

Some of the courses will include Patrol Operations, TEU/SWAT, K-9, Mounted Unit, Explosives Unit, Criminal Investigations (Narcotics, Investigations, Crime Lab), drone presentation, search and rescue, and negotiator training. Attendees will participate in activities and scenarios to expose them to a variety of law enforcement topics.

Interested applicants must be between the ages of 13-18 (Entering High School Fall 2025 to Recent Graduates 2025) to attend the class. Applicants must be El Paso County residents and are currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a school in El Paso County.

Please note an “Academy Participation Liability Waiver,  Indemnification Agreement, and General Rules” must be signed for admission. Participation in Physical activities, and seat belt convincer are optional.

If you have questions about the Teen Academy, please speak with your local El Paso County Sheriff’s Office SRO or CSPD SRO, or email us Deputy Adkisson at [email protected] for additional information.

We will take applicants on a first come basis.
