On January 1, 2016, at approximately 7:00 PM, a deputy was dispatched to Memorial Hospital in reference to an assault that had just occurred.
Upon arrival, the Deputy contacted the victim and he stated his roommate had hit him in the head with a hammer several times while he was sleeping in his recliner in the living room.
Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) Deputies responded to the scene and attempted to contact the suspect with negative results. Containment was set up and SWAT, the Crisis Negotiations Unit (CNU) and Detectives responded to the scene. CNU attempted several times to contact the suspect by calling his cellular phone and text messages with negative results.
SWAT breached the front door and deployed a small robot. The robot made contact with the suspect several times and no movement could be observed. The robot continued to monitor the suspect while a SWAT contact team was assembled. SWAT then entered the residence and the suspect was taken into custody without incident.
The suspect has been identified as Duane Moore, DOB: 06/13/64. Moore has been booked into the Criminal Justice Center on an outstanding parole violation warrant and charges of Attempted 1st Degree Murder, 1st Degree Assault, and Felony Menacing.
