On July 3, 2020, at approximately 8:11 PM, our Communications Center dispatched deputies to a campground, located Forest Service Road 306, on a Check the Welfare call. It was reported a male locked himself in the public restroom and was yelling and screaming. It was also reported the same male fired a weapon between three to ten times. Our Communications Center received numerous calls from campers in the area.
Deputies immediately responded as the campers were self-evacuating the area.
Deputies responded and provided verbal commands to the suspect in the restroom. The suspect complied and exited the restroom. The suspect then lead deputies to his assigned camp site. The deputies retrieved what the campers believed to be a firearm, the firearm was determined to be an air-soft gun.
