The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office proudly honors the invaluable contributions of its Evidence Technicians during Property and Evidence Technicians Week, observed from April 7 through April 11, 2025.
The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Evidence Unit is responsible for maintaining the integrity, storage, preservation, and release or disposal of evidence and property taken into the Office’s custody. Their commitment is reflected in the meticulous collection, preservation, and maintenance of evidence crucial to criminal investigations.
In 2024, the Evidence Unit processed nearly 13,390 pieces of evidence and property items, as well as 264 vehicles. Additionally, in 2024, our Evidence Unit was responsible for releasing and lawfully destroying 5,017 property items.
Currently, our Evidence Unit consists of three Evidence Technicians and a Supervisor.

Additionally, to recognize the essential role these professionals play in law enforcement, the State of Colorado released a proclamation naming this week Law Enforcement Property and Evidence Technicians Week.
