Congressman Doug Lamborn will be touring the El Paso County Jail, located at 2739 E. Las Vegas Street, at 1:00 PM, on Tuesday, January 21, 2020.  He has a great interest in the El Paso County Jail, as it is housed right in his hometown. 

Not only is it the largest jail in the State of Colorado outside of the Department of Corrections, it also holds a larger than average population of veterans due to the multiple military installations in the region.  Congressman Lamborn will tour the whole facility, with a special emphasis on the Veteran’s Ward and Veteran’s programming. 

The Sheriff’s Office and Congressman Lamborn have a joint interest in potential Federal legislation affecting Medicaid enrollment for pre-trial detainees.  In addition, the Congressman and Sheriff Elder will discuss potential opportunities for legislation surrounding law enforcement personnel mental health support in response to a growing trend of suicides.
