On Friday, June 26, 2020, Christopher Rogers (DOB: 8/20/95), a Deputy Sheriff with the El Paso County Sheriff's Office was charged with Third Degree Assault and First Degree Official Misconduct. The criminal investigation was conducted by the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD). Rogers was served a summons by CSPD and released on a promise to appear in court. Both are misdemeanor crimes.
The charges stem from on-duty conduct between Rogers and an inmate on May 16, 2020. Another deputy with the Sheriff's Office intervened and reported the conduct to his supervisor. Rogers was placed on Administrative Leave in accordance with policy on May 18, 2020.
