El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Introduces Sheriff’s Posse – Now Recruiting Volunteers

Mar 14, 2025 - 1:00pm

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is actively recruiting community-minded individuals to join the newly established Sheriff’s Posse.

The Sheriff’s Posse is a citizen-based volunteer program which allows residents to engage in law enforcement-related duties which do not require a sworn deputy.

El Paso County continues to grow in population; therefore, the need for dedicated volunteers to assist with essential public safety services also continues to grow. The Sheriff’s Posse will play a vital role in helping deputies respond to the increasing demands of law enforcement.

Volunteers will receive specialized training through the Posse Academy, scheduled for April 15th – May 3rd, 2025, preparing them to assist with various duties, including:

  • Accident and traffic control
  • Crime scene security
  • Crowd and traffic management for special events
  • Directed patrol, crime prevention, and alarm response
  • Parking complaints and vehicle impounds
  • Animal complaints and lost/found property reports
  • Motorist assists
  • Assisting the Communications Center, Sheriff’s Office front desk, Courthouse, or other county buildings
  • And many more opportunities

To recognize the dedication of those who join in its inaugural year, all first-year Sheriff’s Posse members will wear a special commemorative patch.

Applications must be submitted by March 24th, 2025, at https://www.epcsheriffsoffice.com/employment-opportunities.

For more information and a full list of volunteer opportunities visit https://www.epcsheriffsoffice.com.

Become a part of the Sheriff’s Posse and make a lasting impact on your community!
