On December 14, 2022, at around 6:39 a.m., a deputy with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office was involved in a vehicle vs. pedestrian traffic crash on East Las Vegas Street. Tragically, the pedestrian did not survive. The deputy was not injured.
The involved deputy is Deputy Greg Stoneham who was on duty, operating a marked patrol vehicle, and not responding to a call for service at the time of the crash.
Deputy Stoneham has been employed with the Sheriff’s Office since April 2007 and is currently assigned to the Patrol Division. He has been placed on administrative leave per policy.
The Colorado State Patrol is the lead investigating agency; any updates on the crash will come from the Colorado State Patrol.
