On September 4, 2023, a male inmate in the El Paso County Jail died while in custody. At about 5:45 a.m., 42-year-old Jamin Robertson was housed in the medical unit and was found unresponsive and not breathing in his cell.
Lifesaving measures were immediately initiated by medical staff until responders from the American Medical Response (AMR) and the Colorado Springs Fire Department took over medical care. Despite those measures, he passed away.
Mr. Robertson was being housed in medical after being released back to the jail from a local hospital the afternoon of September 2nd. He had been sent out of the jail to a hospital for a medical issue on August 29th.
The cause of death will be released upon the conclusion of the autopsy by the El Paso County Coroner’s Office.
