On Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at approximately 2:00 PM, detectives from the Metro Vice, Narcotics, & Intelligence Division (MVNI) along with deputies from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Rural Enforcement & Outreach Unit conducted a marijuana compliance inspection at a residence in the 14300 block of Holmes Road, which is in unincorporated El Paso County.
The inspection was conducted as a result of local agencies receiving numerous narcotics tips about the property. Based on their observations, detectives applied for and received a search warrant for the property. The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team was utilized to execute the search warrant on the residence.
During a search of the property, investigators discovered eight separate fully functional marijuana grow areas throughout the property. Investigators seized 271 marijuana plants in various stages of maturity, various forms of illegal narcotics, an undisclosed amount of cash, body armor and 14 different weapon systems that were located throughout the residence.
Investigators discovered a fully functional butane hash oil extraction lab in a storage room inside the residence. This appears to have been used to extract large amounts of THC from the marijuana plant material growing at the property.
Caleb Moraida, DOB: 01/31/97 was taken into custody and booked into the Criminal Justice Center jail for an outstanding traffic arrest warrant. The investigation is open and active with additional criminal charges pending.
A mugshot of Mr. Moraida is attached to this Media Release.
Attached are pictures of items seized during the search.
