On January 1, 2018, House Bill 17-1220 concerning measures to stop diversion of legal marijuana to the illegal market was enacted into law. The Sheriff’s Office in partnership with the Colorado Springs Police Department, Metro Vice Narcotics Intelligence Unit (MVNI), and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has continued its efforts to aggressively target those involved in illegal and black-market marijuana grow operations.
The third quarter enforcement efforts from July 1, 2018 – September 30, 2018 are:
• 26 Search Warrants
• 25 Knock and Talks
• 1605 plants seized (Street Value of $1,605,000 at $1,000 per plant)
• 435 pounds of processed marijuana seized (Street Value of $1,522,500 at $3500 per pound)
• $61,470 in cash seized
• 7 guns seized
• 10 arrests
