On May 5, 2020, at approximately 01:48 AM, our Communications Center dispatched deputies to the 8400 block of Appleton Trail on an Assist Outside Agency for a drug overdose.
The first deputy on scene observed a male party laying on a bed, not responsive, not breathing, and with a weak pulse. The deputy administered Narcan which allowed the male to begin breathing but was still not responsive. Due to the male's continued weak pulse and very little to no response to the first Narcan deployment, the deputy administered a second round of Narcan. The male began breathing normal and regained consciousness.
It was later discovered; the male overdosed on Heroin. He was transported to the nearest hospital for further medical treatment.
"The importance of providing first responders with effective tools like Narcan, can never be understated. A life was saved, and without Narcan this would not have been possible." Sheriff Bill Elder.
