On March 12, 2023, at approximately 5:34 PM, the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) Communications Center received reports of a Domestic Disturbance at a home in the 1000 Block of North Foote Avenue.

When CSPD officers arrived on the scene, they conducted an investigation and determined an adult male suspect was wanted in connection to an outstanding warrant. It was discovered that the suspect may still be hiding in the home.

The officers searched the home and located the suspect hiding in the home. The officers gave verbal commands, and the suspect refused to comply. A taser was used and was found to be ineffective. At 12:16 am, at least one CSPD Officer fired at least one round striking the suspect.

The CSPD officers arrested the suspect, rendered aid, and he was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.

No other community members or officers were injured in this incident.

One CSPD officer involved in this incident has been placed on administrative leave per CSPD's policy.

In accordance with Colorado Revised Statute 16-2.5-301, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office is the lead investigative agency for this officer-involved shooting. This is an ongoing investigation and information will be released as appropriate.
