On August 26, 2020, at approximately 11:37 AM, the El Paso Sheriff's Office received a 911 call regarding a plane crash in the 6000 block of McCandlish Road. One of the callers stated the aircraft appeared to be attempting to land when it flipped over and came to rest upside down.
Multiple units from the Sheriff's Office and Falcon Fire Department responded and found an unidentified pilot, inside the aircraft, deceased. The pilot was the only person in the plane when it went down. The plane was on fire at the time of the crash and was extinguished by Falcon FD prior to the arrival of deputies.
A section of McCandlish Road south of Falcon Highway remains closed.
The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board was contacted via telephone. The Federal Aviation Administration will be the investigating agency and will address any future inquires for this incident.
