This afternoon, El Paso County Sheriff Joseph Roybal administered the oath of office to 21 POST Certified El Paso County Deputy Recruits, and two Teller County Sheriff’s Office Recruits, during the Class 23-3 Graduation Ceremony in Colorado Springs.

The 23 upstanding new deputies are the second class to graduate from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Regional Training Academy with a 24-week POST certification since Sheriff Roybal announced the return of the POST certification requirement since taking office in January 2023.

“Graduation is always an exciting day for members of our community and members of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office,” said El Paso County Sheriff Joseph Roybal. “Earlier this week, we celebrated a 100% pass rate for Class 23-3- a massive accomplishment. These 23 graduating individuals have chosen to take on the righteous responsibility of protecting our community and safeguarding the Constitutional Rights for all citizens, citizens of the community and those incarcerated within our Jail. I thank Sheriff Mikesell for entrusting our office with the task of training his recruits. We are grateful for the amazing partnerships we share with all the law enforcement agencies of the Pikes Peak region.”

The next Regional Training Academy POST certified class will graduate in early Spring 2024, with multiple state-wide law enforcement agencies represented.
