On June 20, 2020, at approximately 11:07 AM, our Communications Center (the El Paso County Communications Center) dispatched Manitou Springs Police officers to the 10 block of Fountain Place in Manitou Springs on a Check the Welfare call.

Upon arriving on scene, officers discovered a deceased adult female inside a residence.

Due to circumstances of the call, Manitou Springs Police Department requested the assistance of our Violent Crimes Unit. Following the investigation, EPSO detectives, in conjunction with Manitou Springs Police officers arrested William Arthur Weaver, DOB: 05/26/1971, on charges of First Degree Murder.

The name of the victim will not be released at this time pending identification by the El Paso County Coroner’s Office.

There is no known threat to the community. This is a continuing active investigation and information will be released as the investigation allows.
