Previous Release from the Colorado Springs Police Department:

On December 17th, 2024, at approximately 2:58 PM, Colorado Springs Police Officers were dispatched to the 5600 block of S. Buckskin Pass Drive for a domestic disturbance call for service.

The reporting party called to say his ex-girlfriend was at his residence, ringing the doorbell and excessively knocking. The reporting party also stated his ex-girlfriend had a warrant for her arrest.

Prior to their arrival, officers were familiar with the suspect and that she was known to carry a firearm.

Upon arrival, officers observed the suspect and attempted to contact her as she walked away. Immediately upon contacting her, the suspect pointed a firearm at the officers. At that point, at least one officer shot at least one round, striking the suspect.

Officers then gave immediate medical aid until medical personnel arrived and transported her to an area hospital to receive treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

No other community members or officers were injured in this incident. The CSPD officers involved have been placed on administrative leave per policy.

In accordance with Colorado Revised Statutes 16-2.5-301, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office is the lead investigative agency for this officer-involved shooting, and all investigative updates will come from them. Within 21 days, CSPD will release a significant event briefing video with body-worn camera footage of this incident.
