On Saturday, January 11, 2020, at approximately 11:57 PM, an officer with the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of Galley Road and Arrawanna Street.   

One officer requested a second officer as a cover officer.  The male driver shot at the officers who returned fire.  During the incident at least one round was fired at the suspect by the officer. 
   
The driver drove away from the scene and later was involved in a traffic accident at Pikes Peak Avenue and Dunsmere Street.  The driver then fled the scene on foot.  The suspect is still at large. 

One officer was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
  
In accordance with Colorado Revised Statute 16-2.5-301, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is the lead investigative agency for this officer involved shooting.  This is an ongoing investigation and information will be released as the investigation allows.
