On July 1, 2019, at approximately 7:35 AM, deputies were dispatched to the 2200 block of Cortez Drive reference a stolen trailer. Once on scene, deputies contacted two individuals inside a truck that was pulling the trailer, which was attempting to leave the driveway. The individuals were identified as Nathaniel Buchmann, DOB: 08/13/90 and Sarah Schwartz, DOB: 11/18/89. Both had active warrants and were placed into custody. Buchmann was able to escape custody and fled the area on foot.
Containment was set up immediately with the assistance of local law enforcement. A notification was sent out to citizens advising them of law enforcement presence in the vicinity and asking them to stay inside their homes. A thorough search of the area was conducted by EPSO SWAT and K9, but Buchmann was not located.
Nathaniel Buchmann is described as a 28-year-old white male, tall, thin build, last seen wearing a light blue jacket, Colorado hoodie, jeans, and handcuffs. He is wanted on outstanding felony warrants for Larceny and Parole Violation. He is also facing additional charges related to the escape. He is considered dangerous, possibly armed.
29-year-old Sarah Schwartz was arrested on outstanding warrants for Aggravated Motor Vehicle Theft, Resisting Arrest, Criminal Possession of ID Document, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Tampering with Physical Evidence.
A search of the residence where the trailer was located resulted in the additional arrests of the following:
Charles Allen Hitchcock, DOB: 08/28/76, outstanding warrant for Criminal Trespass
Valerie Trujillo, DOB: 09/19/86, outstanding warrant for Resisting Arrest
Lacyn North, DOB: 04/17/93, outstanding warrant for Criminal Trespass
