On March 21, 2019, at approximately 2:15 AM, a deputy observed a light-colored Audi pull out of the Springs Value Inn. The vehicle was driving erratically so the deputy ran the plate and it came back to a black Audi. A traffic stop was initiated, and the driver pulled over on Marksheffel Road southbound south of Space Village Drive. The driver was unable to provide identification and exhibited signs of impairment.
The deputy requested a cover unit and upon the arrival of another deputy, the driver was ordered out of the vehicle. The suspect pulled away, driving the speed limits at first, then accelerating to a high rate of speed. At Marksheffel Road and Peaceful Ridge the driver turned off his lights and drove off the roadway when he couldn’t see it. The vehicle flipped over, and the driver was ejected and subsequently apprehended.
The suspect has been identified as Kenneth Boyd, DOB: 05/05/80. He is wanted on several outstanding warrants to include charges of assaulting peace officers. After being medically cleared, he was booked into the El Paso County Jail on the charges of Special Offender, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance and Vehicular Eluding with Substantial Risk of Death to Another.
A mug shot of Boyd will be sent out when it becomes available.
