On November 5, 2022, two El Paso County Sheriff's Office deputies were patrolling in the 2100 Block of B Street behind businesses, located in unincorporated El Paso County. 

Recently, this area has been the location of a significant amount of recovered stolen vehicles, as well as a homicide. 

While in the area, they observed a vehicle parked in the same area where other stolen vehicles have been recovered. They determined the vehicle was an unreported stolen vehicle. A search of the vehicle was conducted and a stolen rifle was also found inside the vehicle. Numerous vehicle chassis and parts were around where the stolen vehicle was discovered.  

Three individuals near the vehicle were contacted, one of which had multiple felony warrants. Marvin Rivera-Garcia (date of birth, 08/14/1987) was taken into custody and booked into the El Paso County Jail. Rivera-Garcia's mugshot has been attached to this media release.

In recent months, this area has been identified as an area where Motor Vehicle Theft offenders will use to strip stolen cars for parts. Our Criminal Intelligence Unit will be following up on active investigations as well as conducting proactive policing in the area.
