The Sheriff's Office has received intelligence of another scam.  In these new cases the caller is asking for money to clear up an arrest warrant using the Sheriff’s Office phone number 719-520-7100.  This can be done by using an application called "Spoof Card".  The application allows the suspect to call using any legitimate phone number with the intent of victimizing people for large amounts of money. The caller can be aggressive and threatening if directions for making payment are not followed.

The information of employee names, as well as phone numbers is easily accessible from the Sheriff's Office Website.  If someone calls you claiming to be an employee with the Sheriff's Office and is asking for money for any reason, please hang up and call your local law enforcement agency. 

Again, the Sheriff's Office would like to remind citizens that our Office NEVER calls and informs individuals they have an active warrant and NEVER asks individuals to make payments to clear up a warrant.  We will also NEVER call to ask for money, for any reason.  We DO NOT collect money for any government agency.
