On the evening of August 19, 2023, at about 10:18 p.m., a 911 call came into the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center.  The caller reported there had been a shooting in the 4000 block of Ford Drive in unincorporated El Paso County.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and Black Forest Fire Department responded and found an unresponsive adult male on-scene.  Life-saving efforts were made but the victim succumbed to his injuries.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division responded and assumed control of the scene. 

An individual on scene was arrested for unrelated domestic violence charges. 

All parties involved in the shooting have been accounted for and there is no ongoing threat to the public.

The El Paso County Coroner’s Office will confirm the identity of the shooting victim and determine the cause of death at a later time.

This is an ongoing, active investigation, more information will be released once available.
