On Thursday, January 12, 2017, at approximately 9:13 PM, Officers with the Colorado Springs Police Department(CSPD) made contact with a suspicious individual in the parking lot of the Arby’s Restaurant, located at  616 W Garden of the Gods Road.  The suspect fired at the officers and the officers returned fire. 

The suspect has been identified as Shawn Michael Oliver DOB: 062777.  At the time of the shooting, Mr. Oliver was wanted on two felony arrest warrants out of Adams County, Colorado.  Mr. Oliver is still undergoing treatment at a local hospital. 

The officers involved were uninjured and have been placed on routine administrative leave in accordance with CSPD policy.

A photo of Mr. Oliver is attached to this Media Release.  The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is the lead investigative agency for this officer involved deadly force incident. This is an ongoing investigation and information will be released as the investigation allows.
