On Thursday, August 3, 2017, members of the Sheriff's Office Rural Enforcement and Outreach Unit (REO) obtained and executed a search warrant at a property in the 4500 block of South Calhan Highway in reference to an illegal marijuana grow.
A grow of 149 marijuana plants were found on the property, as well as processed marijuana, money and firearms. The approximate value being upwards of $125,000.
On Tuesday, August 8, 2017, the Sheriff's Office Rural Enforcement Outreach Unit booked Maritza Borges-Almeida, DOB: 08/20/72, into the Criminal Justice Center Jail on the charges of Offenses Related to Marijuana (x2). Silvio Marquez, DOB: 09/03/68, was booked into the Criminal Justice Center Jail on the charges of Offenses Related to Marijuana (x2) and Possession of a Weapon by a Previous Offender.
