On October 19, 2016, Deputies observed a vehicle stopped in the middle of the roadway on Glenwood Drive at Cambridge Avenue. Deputies approached the vehicle and the contacted occupants.
A Deputy spoke with the driver and another Deputy contacted the suspect outside of the vehicle.
As the Deputy went to pat the suspect down, he ran through a field towards Park Crest Court. The suspect raised a firearm over his shoulder and fired rounds at the Deputies. He then turned the corner and ran into the neighborhood.
Containment was set up immediately and K-9 and the Crime Reduction Unit responded for a track and search. Due to the large search area and seriousness of the crime, additional K-9 Units and SWAT assisted with the area search.
Detectives were notified and responded to the scene. The search was unable to locate the suspect.
The suspect has been identified as Arturo Maldonado Cerna DOB: 08/03/83. An Arrest Warrant has been issued for two counts of Attempted Murder of a Peace Officer, Attempt to Influence a Public Official and Criminal Impersonation.
