On Sunday, November 6, 2016, at approximately 5:00 PM, the Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received several calls regarding a vehicle on fire possibly related to a domestic violence situation in the 1300 block of Forest Road in the Stratmoor Hills area.
When Deputies and Fire personnel arrived on scene they found a vehicle on fire and two females with burn injuries. The two females were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The adult victim has been identified as Monica Rascon. She is in critical but stable condition. The 14 year old girl is a relative of the family and is also in stable condition. Our investigation has revealed the suspect threw accelerant on Ms. Rascon and ignited her on fire. The 14 year old relative was subsequently burned as she attempted to put out the fire on Ms. Rascon.
The suspect has been identified as Consepcion Rascon Jr. DOB: 12/19/79. An Arrest Warrant has been issued for two counts of Attempted First Degree Murder, two counts of Second Degree Arson, Child Abuse and Domestic Violence.
Our investigation indicates there may be people assisting Rascon in the Stratmoor Hills and Deerfield Hills areas. It is a criminal offense to assist someone who has committed a crime and according to Colorado Revised Statute 18-8-105 a person assisting Rascon could be charged with Accessory to Attempted Murder (F4).
