On 12/12/23, the El Paso County Coroner's Office confirmed the identities of the deceased found by deputies after the reported shooting on Akawi Way.  They are: 54-year-old Desiree N. Vandelac, 57-year-old Robert V. Vandelac, and 30-year-old Debray A. Scott.  The Sheriff's Office is investigating these deaths as victims of homicide.  22-year-old Peyton S. Vandelac was also found deceased inside the residence.  The exact manner and causes of death will not be available until the Coroner has the full autopsy results.

The identity of the injured victim initially contacted when deputies arrived at the scene will not be disclosed at this time.  This is still an active investigation.

On 12/6/23, at 11:40 p.m., the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received report of a shooting in the 21000 block of Akawi Way, in unincorporated El Paso County. Because of the distance, patrol deputies arrived in the area after midnight, contacting a male with non-life threatening injuries outside the address.  Medical aid was rendered to the injured male and, as a result of the initial investigation, our Tactical Support Group (TSG) responded.  The TSG includes SWAT, negotiators, medics, K9, robotic assets, and other necessary resources.

As our response progressed, SWAT made entry into the address and located four deceased adults.  The involvement and relationships of the deceased is yet to be determined and will not be released pending positive identification and notification of next-of-kin.

Initial information indicates all events occurred prior to law enforcement arrival.  All involved parties are accounted for and there is no threat to the community.  This is still an active investigation.
