On Tuesday, November 27, 2018, the El Paso County Wildland Fire Management Team in conjunction with El Paso County Parks and Regional Fire Departments will be conducting pile burning in the northern end of the County. The team will focus their efforts in the Black Forest and Fox Run Regional Park areas.
The mitigation efforts are part of a long-range plan to improve the overall health of the forest by removing diseased and damaged trees and reducing fuels available to burn during wildland fires. The burning will continue in a variety of areas throughout the county during the fall and winter months. Safety factors, weather conditions, air quality, and other environmental considerations will be continually monitored when burning takes place.
The public can expect smoke to be visible from the affected areas.
