The El Paso County Wildland Fire Management Team in conjunction with El Paso County Parks will be conducting pile burning in the northern end of the El Paso County today. The team will resume their mitigation efforts in the Black Forest and Fox Run Regional Park areas. This is part of a strategic plan to improve the overall health of the forest by removing diseased and damaged trees and reducing fuels available to burn during wildland fires.
The public can expect smoke to be visible from the affected areas. The team will continually monitor safety factors, weather conditions, air quality, and other environmental considerations while conducting pile burning operations.
