On April 26, 2022, a male inmate in the El Paso County Jail died while in custody.

On April 21, 2022, at approximately 4:57 p.m., the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Communications center received information from a caller who reported finding a deceased male lying on the side of the road in the 20000 block of Longhorn Point.

New K9 Coming to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office

In the coming months the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office will be adding a new team member to their K9 Unit after securing sufficient funding. This funding will help the unit to obtain and train a new K9.

On April 20, 2022, at approximately 1:39 a.m., the El Paso County Sheriff's Office Communications Center received a report of shots fired in the 26300 block of Big Springs Road located in unincorporated El Paso County.

On April 11, 2022, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office’s beloved K9 Jinx was shot and killed in the line of duty by an armed suspect.  K9 Jinx’s partner and family, his law enforcement family, and the Pikes Peak Region have suffered a tremendous loss.
