Sheriff's Office Investigates Drive-by Shooting Case

On Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at approximately 11:30 PM, two male suspects entered a property in the 400 block of De La Vista Circle and shot the homeowner.
The suspects fled from the area. The homeowner is recovering from his injuries.
The Sheriff's Office has received intelligence of a jury scam. The caller threatens the individual they have missed Jury Duty, it's a Felony offense and need to pay fines in excess of $1,800.00. After the money is deposited, they have to come to the Sheriff's Office to sign a waiver form.
Over the course of the last year, there has been an overwhelming increase in unemployment fraud throughout the United States. Losses are being reported in excess of hundreds of millions of dollars.
On Friday, May 15, 2020, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office began investigating a sexual assault which occurred in eastern El Paso County, Colorado. The victim reported during the assault the suspects alluded to there being additional victims.

Items Stolen from Sheriff's Office Vehicle
On December 15, 2020, at 7:10 AM, a suspect burglarized a Coin Laundry business located in the 300 block of Main Street. He walked into the business, opened the breaker panel to turn off all breakers, then proceeded to the coin machine.
On November 17, 2020, between approximately 4:54 AM through 5:03 AM, a theft occurred at a business located in the 5800 block of Terminal Avenue. Two vehicles park near a 30 foot-long black enclosed trailer parked behind the business.
On November 16, 2020, between 4:45 AM through 5:30 AM, two suspects attempted to access vending and coin machines at a laundromat located in the 600 block of Peterson Road.
On August 23, 2020, at approximately1:41 AM, the Sheriff's Office received a call regarding a shooting at a property in the 20000 block of Longhorn Point, located in unincorporated El Paso County, Colorado.
On November 27, 2020, between approximately 2:30 PM through 2:50 PM, a package theft occurred in the 5000 block of Old Stage Coach Road. The suspect vehicle drives up to the entrance of the driveway, exits vehicle, walks up to the victim’s porch and steals a package from it.
On November 21, 2020, at approximately 2:50 PM, deputies responded to the 900 block of Harbourne Street for a shots fired call.
On November 18, 2020, at approximately 9:00 AM, a package theft occurred in the 6700 block of Mission Road. The suspect vehicle drives through the neighborhood, a suspect exits the passenger side of the vehicle. The suspect walks up to the victim’s porch and steals a package from it.
On November 16, 2020, at approximately 3:13 AM, a vehicle break-in and theft occurred in the 5600 block of Alturas Drive. The suspect was seen on the victim’s home security camera footage standing on the rear driver side tire while opening the tool box in the truck bed and stealing tools.

On October 21, 2020, between approximately 1:00 PM through 3:50 PM, packages were delivered to the 10000 block of Deer Meadow Circle as well as the 6000 block of Kettle Fire Trail. Shortly after the packages were delivered, the packages were stolen.
In recent months, there has been an increase of vehicle break-ins at trail heads. Preliminary investigation has revealed suspects watching for victims to hide purses/wallets in their vehicle. They wait until it's clear then smash windows to steal those hidden items.
