Mental Health issues affect every aspect of law enforcement from encounters on the street through to incarceration.  Since being elected in 2015, Sheriff Bill Elder has committed to ensuring our workforce is well trained and ready to respond to the mental health needs of our community.

El Paso County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Knox will receive a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a charitable donation from non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. K-9 Knox’s vest is sponsored by Paula Rayer of Peyton, CO in memory of her mother, Lynn D.

On January 2, 2019, at approximately 1:06 AM, deputies were dispatched to the Maverick station in the 2400 block of Peterson Road in regard to an armed robbery which had just occurred. 

The El Paso County Wildland Fire Management Team in conjunction with El Paso County Parks will be conducting pile burning in the northern end of the El Paso County today.  The team will resume their mitigation efforts in the Black Forest and Fox Run Regional Park areas.
