Yesterday, HB 24-1128 was indefinitely suspended during a House State, Civic, Military, & Veterans’ Affairs Committee hearing. 

Earlier this month, Sheriff Joseph Roybal of El Paso County and Sheriff Jason Mikesell of Teller County formed a coalition of Sheriffs across Colorado supporting HB 24-1128. HB 24-1128 is legislation aimed at reversing previously passed legislation, specifically HB 19-1124 and HB 23-1100. 

Last week, the Colorado Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve presented Sheriff Joseph Roybal and the El Paso County Sheriff's Office with the prestigious Seven Seals Award.

On February 19, 2024, at 3:22 a.m., the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a shooting had occurred in the 6100 block of Pemmican Point, in unincorporated El Paso County.

Today, Sheriff Joe Roybal and El Paso County Sheriff's Office members attended the 17th Annual Ken Jordan Awards Ceremony in recognition of law enforcement personnel in the Pikes Peak region who have achieved excellence in DUI enforcement. 

In November of 2023, El Paso County witnessed a landmark verdict after a jury found 28-year-old Katariina Gibson guilty of Proximate Cause of Death by Unlawful Distribution, C.R.S. 18-18-405, Drug Felony 1; and Introducing Contraband in the 2nd Degree, C.R.S. 18-8-204, Felony 6.

Recently, Sheriff Joseph Roybal of El Paso County, and Sheriff Jason Mikesell of Teller County, met with Sheriffs from across Colorado and legislators, to address the growing immigration crisis Colorado is facing.
