El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Mounted Unit Receives $15k Donation

This Wednesday, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office was honored to receive a $15,000 donation from God’s Pantry Ministry, a local non-profit located in the Security-Widefield area of unincorporated El Paso County.

The generous donation was a heartfelt tribute to two beloved members of our Mounted Unit, equine partners Major Bradley and Zulu, who recently passed away.

In 2024, God’s Pantry made a similar contribution in honor of K9 Jinx, who gave his life in the line of duty protecting his handler and fellow law enforcement partners.

“It is a privilege to support those who serve,” said Carey Adams, Owner of God’s Pantry Ministry. “We were deeply moved by the loss of Major Bradley and Zulu, and we hope this donation reflects our continued appreciation for the work of the Sheriff’s Office and the noble animals who serve alongside them.

“Our ministry supports the work of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, their animal partners, and the remarkable work they do to keep our community safe. We are grateful for everything they do.”

This generous donation will help the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office offset the costs of two additional horses for the Mounted Unit, equipment, and feed. This will help ensure the continued presence of these vital partners in public safety and community engagement.

“I am grateful to Carey, Mona, and the volunteers at God’s Pantry for their ongoing support and compassion,” said El Paso County Sheriff Joseph Roybal. “Major Bradley and Zulu were more than equine partners; they were ambassadors of our agency, connecting with the community they served and embodying the strength and spirit of our western heritage. Their loss is felt throughout our ranks and the citizens we serve.”
