Effective immediately, and after a careful analysis of current fire conditions and consultation with the local emergency manager, El Paso County Sheriff and Fire Warden Joseph Roybal has lifted the Stage 1 Fire Restrictions implemented December 17, 2025.
Sheriff Roybal said, “I’m grateful for everyone’s cooperation this past week. The high winds and dry conditions made the restrictions necessary. Although the windy conditions have dissipated and moisture is predicted, the threat of wildland fires is a risk I take seriously and must mitigate. As we lift the Stage 1 Fire Restrictions for the unincorporated areas of El Paso County, I ask all of our citizens to continuously exercise care and due caution in preventing wildfires, especially when smoking outside, using campfires, grills, being around open flames or engaging in other fire-related activities.”
