K9 Styx Helps Secure Domestic Violence Suspect’s Surrender Following Felony At-Large Alert

Shortly after midnight on June 7, 2026, a call came into the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Regional Communications Center regarding a domestic violence incident in progress in the 1100 block of Solace Pond View in the Cimarron Hills area of unincorporated El Paso County.

When patrol deputies arrived, they interviewed the victim and learned the suspect had fled the area.

Based on evidence collected at the scene and the victim’s statement, the Sheriff’s Office issued a felony at-large alert for the suspect, identified as 32-year-old William Davis.

On June 8, 2026, the Sheriff’s Office received information about Davis’ whereabouts and responded to an address in the 9500 block of Pony Gulch Way in unincorporated El Paso County.

Davis was known to possess a firearm and was considered “armed and dangerous” by law enforcement.

Patrol deputies, including K9 Styx and his partner, responded to the residence, established a secure perimeter, and began making announcements for the suspect to exit. After several attempts to communicate with him, deputies warned Davis the K9 would be deployed if he failed to cooperate. Moments later, Davis exited the residence and complied with deputies’ commands.

No one was injured during the incident.

William Davis was booked into the El Paso County Jail on the following charges:

  • First Degree Burglary
  • Second Degree Assault with Strangulation
  • Harassment
  • Criminal Mischief

Per Colorado statute, Davis was released on a $7,500 bond, the standard bond amount set by the state of Colorado for the associated charges.

“Our law enforcement K9 teams are invaluable resource multipliers who help deputies safely resolve dangerous situations,” said El Paso County Sheriff Joseph Roybal. “In cases involving wanted fugitives, especially those believed to be armed, the presence of a highly trained K9 can encourage compliance, deter violence, and reduce risk for deputies, suspects, and community members. K9 Styx and his partner played an important role in bringing this incident to a peaceful conclusion.”
