Sheriff’s Office Now Accepting Applications Open for 2025 Pikes Peak Regional Teen Academy

The 2025 Pikes Peak Regional Teen Academy is currently accepting applications!The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and the Colorado Springs Police Department School Resource Officer units are hosting the 10th Annual Pikes Peak Regional Law Enforcement Teen Academy

in June 2025.

The Teen Academy provides young adults with a unique opportunity to learn about the operations of regional law enforcement agencies in El Paso County. The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and the Colorado Springs Police Department host the 4-day Academy, which will be offered twice in June.

In 2024, 100 local teens attended the two academies, and the spots filled up quickly.

In 2025, the academies will be held at Vista Ridge High School.

The Academy will be offered twice on the following dates:

June 2-5, 2025, from 8:00 am-4:00 pm daily, at Vista Ridge High School

June 9-12, 2025, from 8:00 am-4:00 pm daily, at Vista Ridge High School

Some of the courses will include Patrol Operations, TEU/SWAT, K-9, Mounted Unit, Explosives Unit, Criminal Investigations (Narcotics, Investigations, Crime Lab), drone presentation, search and rescue, and negotiator training. Attendees will participate in activities and scenarios to expose them to various law enforcement topics.

To attend the class, interested applicants must be between 13 and 18 (Entering High School in Fall 2025 to recent graduates in 2025). They must also be El Paso County residents currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a school in El Paso County.

Please note an “Academy Participation Liability Waiver, Indemnification Agreement, and General Rules” must be signed for admission. Participation in physical activities and the seat belt convincer is optional.

Applications

are due by May 16, 2025.
