On Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at approximately 3:35 PM, the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) responded to a report of road rage involving a firearm. Upon contacting the reporting party, officers obtained suspect information that led them to an apartment complex in the 2100 block of Delta Drive.

In accordance with Colorado State law, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is the lead investigative agency for this officer-involved shooting and have taken the lead on the initial investigation.

The suspect, identified as 42-year-old Avery Denton, has been charged with Menacing and booked into the El Paso County Jail on a $2,000 bond.

Per CSPD policy, the officers involved have been placed on administrative leave.
