Juvenile Crime Spree Investigation Leads to Arrest

On May 24, 2025, at approximately 4:50 a.m., the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Regional Communications Center received multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting individuals breaking into vehicles in the 2300 block of Klein Place, located in the Cimarron Hills area of unincorporated El Paso County. Callers also reported hearing gunshots, and one victim was directly threatened by the suspects during the attempted break-ins.

Deputies responded and discovered an abandoned stolen vehicle in the neighborhood. During their investigation, deputies identified 14 additional vehicle break-ins and confirmed another vehicle had been stolen in the area. Surveillance footage showed between four and six suspects were involved in the coordinated crime spree.

At approximately 12:12 a.m. on May 25, deputies were alerted by Flock Safety cameras, which indicated that a stolen vehicle was near the Citadel Mall in central Colorado Springs.  The vehicle was the same vehicle stolen the night prior.

In coordination with the Colorado State Patrol and the Colorado Springs Police Department, deputies located the vehicle at Taco Star on Circle Drive. A tactical contact block was executed, successfully pinning the vehicle into a parking space. The driver and front-seat passenger fled the scene on foot, leaving two other occupants inside the vehicle.

Colorado State Troopers pursued and apprehended the driver after a short foot chase. A firearm was recovered from the suspect at the time of arrest.

The 17-year-old male driver was booked into the Zebulon Pike Youth Services Center on charges including Motor Vehicle Theft, Vehicular Eluding, Juvenile in Possession of a Firearm, and Violation of a Restraining Order.

The two juveniles located in the vehicle were interviewed and subsequently released.

All individuals involved in this incident are juveniles. The investigation remains active.
