The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office proudly supports the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo, held at Norris Penrose Event Center from July 8-12, 2025. Sheriff Joseph Roybal encourages families across the region to attend this iconic event, which honors Western heritage and strong community values.
“The Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo is more than an event—it’s a proud celebration of who we are,” said Sheriff Joseph Roybal. “Our strong partnership with Norris Penrose and the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo Foundation helps preserve traditions defining the American West. I hope to see you and your families there—celebrating another incredible year of rodeo tradition.”

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office will maintain a visible presence throughout the Rodeo. Uniformed deputies, the Mounted Unit, Reserve deputies, Emergency Services staff, volunteers, and members of the newly formed Sheriff’s Posse will be on-site for both ceremonial involvement and assisting with safety and security operations. Their presence helps ensure a welcoming and secure environment for all guests.
It is a special honor for the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Mounted Unit to present the colors and pay tribute to our great nation during every performance—a moment of pride that reinforces the patriotic heart of this longstanding tradition.
Plan Ahead: Safety and Venue Information
To help attendees make the most of their experience, the following safety and logistical tips are shared in collaboration with Rodeo organizers:
- Tickets & Entry: Buy tickets early online and have them ready (printed or on your mobile device) for scanning at the gate. Many performances sell out in advance.
- Arrive Early: Evening grounds open at 4:00 p.m., gates at 5:00 p.m. Matinee grounds open at 10:00 a.m., gates at 10:30 a.m.
- Parking Options: Premier paid parking is $30, and standard parking is $10 and must be purchased ahead of the event with tickets. General parking is first-come, first-served. Free off-site parking with shuttle service is available at Costilla & Tejon.
- Accessibility: Handicapped parking and seating are available. Allow extra time and check in with volunteers in red vests for assistance.
- Strollers & Car Seats: These must be checked in at Guest Services before entering the seating area.
- First Aid: AMR medical staff will be stationed on-site, located on the southeast side near permitted parking.
- Weather Preparedness: Much of the venue is outdoors—bring sun protection and dress for changing Colorado weather.
- Food & Beverage: No outside snacks or open drinks allowed. Bottled water (unopened) is permitted. Numerous food and beverage options are available on-site.
- Security: All bags are subject to search. The Rodeo’s security team comprises off-duty law enforcement personnel, military volunteers, and trained security personnel.
This family-friendly event features rodeo performances, live music, mutton bustin’, a petting zoo, pony rides, and the Coors Roadhouse Saloon—ensuring fun for all ages.
