El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Responds to Apartment Assault

On September 12, 2025, at approximately 2:29 AM, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Regional Communications Center received a 9-1-1 call reporting a large fight inside an apartment in the 1600 block of Hampton South in unincorporated El Paso County.

El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Patrol deputies arrived on scene and encountered nearly a dozen individuals engaged in a heated argument in the parking lot. Once order was restored outside, deputies were advised there were victims inside the residence.

Neighbors quickly intervened, entering the apartment and forcing the suspects outside, where deputies initially made contact upon their arrival.

Personnel from the Stratmoor Hills Fire Department provided medical care at the scene before the victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Deputies arrested 18-year-old Aolani Barnes, who was booked into the El Paso County Jail on the following charges:

  • First-Degree Burglary
  • Conspiracy to Commit Second-Degree Assault
  • Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor
  • Third-Degree Assault

Barnes was held on a $5,000 bond. Barnes has since posted bond and was released.

This remains an active investigation.
