El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Now Recruiting for the 2026 Sheriff’s Posse Academy

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is now recruiting community-minded individuals to join the 2026 Sheriff’s Posse Academy.

The Sheriff’s Posse is a citizen-based volunteer program empowering residents to support law enforcement operations in non-sworn capacities. Posse members assist deputies with essential public safety duties across El Paso County, helping strengthen service delivery and community partnerships.

Following the success of the inaugural 2025 class, the second Sheriff’s Posse Academy is scheduled for Spring 2026. The Academy provides specialized training that prepares volunteers to assist in a variety of areas, including:

  • Traffic and accident control
    • Crime scene security
    • Crowd and parking management at major events
    • Directed patrol and crime prevention efforts
    • Animal complaints and property reports
    • Motorist assists
    • Support roles within the Regional Communications Center, courthouse, and Sheriff’s Office facilities

Interested individuals can learn more and apply online at www.epcsheriffsoffice.com/employment-opportunities or contact the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Volunteer Coordinator at HayleySuppes2@elpasoco.com or 719-520-7216 for additional information.

“The success of our first Sheriff’s Posse Academy highlighted the dedication and professionalism of our community members who step forward to serve,” said El Paso County Sheriff Joseph Roybal. “The Posse strengthens our ability to provide quality service, enhance community trust, and ensure our deputies have the support they need as our county continues to grow. I encourage anyone who feels called to serve their community to join the Sheriff’s Posse and make a lasting difference in El Paso County.”
