El Paso County Deputies Recover Stolen Vehicle and Seize Over 1,000 Fentanyl Pills

Yesterday, at approximately 3:20 AM, a patrol sergeant with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office observed a stolen vehicle traveling east on Highway 24 near Peterson Road. The vehicle was followed, and other units were asked to assist in making contact.

In the area of Boulder Street and Union Blvd., deputies strategically positioned their patrol vehicles around the stolen vehicle, a GMC Acadia, to prevent it from fleeing.

The driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot. He was quickly apprehended and identified as 41-year-old Tasavion Butler. Two passengers remained inside the vehicle and were detained without incident.

A search of the vehicle revealed the following items:

  • Approximately 1,100 fentanyl pills
  • 14 grams of methamphetamine
  • 56.5 grams of MDMA (ecstasy)
  • 3 grams of heroin
  • Drug paraphernalia associated with narcotics distribution
  • $3,790 in cash
  • $560 in counterfeit currency

Tasavion Butler was booked into the El Paso County Jail on a $50,000 bond and charged with the following offenses:

Special Offender

Second-Degree Motor Vehicle Theft

Unlawful Distribution, Manufacturing, Dispensing, or Sale

Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance

Obstructing a Peace Officer

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

One of the passengers, 44-year-old Stephanie Schneck, was found to have an active misdemeanor warrant for her arrest. She was booked into the El Paso County Jail and is currently being held with no bond.
