Suspect Identified in Officer-Involved Shooting on Delaware Drive Under Investigation in Colorado Springs

On Saturday, January 31, 2026, at approximately 10:00 PM, the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) responded to a call for service for a disturbance involving a male reportedly chasing a female near Marion Drive and Delaware Drive in Colorado Springs. Information provided revealed one of the parties involved may have been armed with a firearm.

Upon arrival, officers contacted an adult female. She was armed with a knife and immediately fled from officers, refusing lawful commands to stop. During the foot pursuit, the suspect threw the knife while continuing to evade officers.

The suspect then entered the front seat of a marked CSPD patrol vehicle and refused commands to exit. As officers attempted to remove her from the vehicle, the suspect reached for a duty shotgun located inside the patrol vehicle.

Then, one officer fired at least one round, striking the suspect. Officers immediately began rendering medical aid until emergency medical services arrived.

The female, identified as 30-year-old Micaela Pasillas, was transported to a local hospital with at least one gunshot wound and is expected to survive her injuries. Criminal charges for Pasillas are pending.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office has assumed responsibility for the officer-involved shooting investigation as part of the Deadly Force Investigation Team (DFIT) protocol.

The officer involved has been placed on routine administrative leave in accordance with CSPD department policy. Additional information will be released as it becomes available and when appropriate.
