The 2026 Ken Jordan Nominees

Pikes Peak Region Honors Excellence in DUI Enforcement at 20th Annual Ken Jordan Awards

This morning, Sheriff Joseph Roybal joined members of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, the Colorado Springs Police Department, Colorado State Patrol, Manitou Springs Police Department, and Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Colorado during the 20th Annual Ken Jordan Awards Ceremony, an event honoring exceptional DUI enforcement efforts by law enforcement professionals across the Pikes Peak region.

The ceremony commemorates the life and service of Ken Jordan, a Colorado Springs Police officer who was tragically killed in December 2006 during a traffic stop involving an impaired driver. Officer Jordan’s sacrifice remains a powerful reminder of the risks law enforcement faces and the critical importance of impaired-driving enforcement.

“I want to thank this year’s nominees for their critical service and unwavering commitment to keeping drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians safe across the Pikes Peak region,” said El Paso County Sheriff Joseph Roybal. “Our Traffic Unit and Patrol deputies work proactively—day and night, including weekends and holidays—with a strong focus on DUI enforcement.

“For years, El Paso County led Colorado in traffic fatalities, but through coordinated education, enforcement, and prevention, those numbers have steadily declined. Our message to drivers remains clear: stay alert, follow traffic laws, and never drive under the influence.

“Congratulations to this year’s nominees and award recipients and thank you to the Pikes Peak DUI Task Force and our law-enforcement partners for recognizing these deserving professionals.”

During the ceremony, Colorado State Trooper Christopher Helland was announced as the prestigious Ken Jordan Award winner.

“The Ken Jordan Award ceremony reminds us behind every traffic stop and every DUI arrest is a commitment to saving lives,” said MADD Colorado State Director Rebecca Green. “These nominees represent the very best of impaired-driving enforcement in the Pikes Peak region. Their dedication honors Officer Ken Jordan’s legacy and sends a powerful message to our community: impaired driving is preventable, enforcement matters, and lives depend on it. MADD is proud to stand alongside our law-enforcement partners as we work together to end drunk and drug-impaired driving in Colorado.”
