On September 9, 2026, at approximately 2:30 PM, a call came into the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Regional Communications Center from a reporting party who said they were in the 3100 block of Glenarm Road and heard someone yelling for help but could not locate them.
Sheriff’s Office Patrol deputies responded to the area and located an adult female trapped in Fountain Creek inside a culvert. Strong water was rushing around the woman and her dog, and the water had risen to her neck.
Deputies cut through a fence to access the area and, with personnel from Stratmoor Hills Fire District and Security Fire Department, pulled a grate from the culvert and reached the woman and her dog.
Working together, first responders safely pulled both the woman and her dog from the water.
“I want to thank our deputies and the fire personnel from Stratmoor Hills and Security Fire Departments for their quick response and selfless actions,” stated El Paso County Sheriff Joseph Roybal. “This is what we expect from our first responders—working together, acting quickly, and putting others’ lives before their own. I am proud of everyone who responded to this call and grateful for their commitment to protecting our community.”
