On September 26, 2026, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Regional Communications Center received a call regarding a possible kidnapping and domestic violence occurring inside a white sedan traveling southbound on Interstate 25 near County Line Road in northern El Paso County.
El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Patrol deputies and officers from the Monument Police Department responded to the area and located the suspected vehicle. Deputies initiated a traffic stop; however, the driver failed to stop and fled at a high rate of speed. Deputies initially pursued the vehicle but terminated the pursuit shortly afterward due to the high volume of traffic in the area.
Shortly afterward, dispatchers received multiple calls reporting the same vehicle driving on the shoulder and grass along Interstate 25 and nearly striking other vehicles.
Partners from the Colorado Springs Police Department launched a Drone as a First Responder (DFR), which located the vehicle as it exited Interstate 25 onto Briargate Parkway.
Deputies found the vehicle as it accelerated and drove onto a traffic island at the traffic circle at Briargate Parkway and Wolf Center Drive. The vehicle then backed off the island and stopped in the driving portion of the traffic circle. Deputies ordered 31-year-old Bryan Garcia out of the vehicle at gunpoint.
Deputies took Garcia into custody without incident.
The victim was uninjured and cleared by medical personnel on the scene.
“I want to thank our partners at the Monument Police Department and Colorado Springs Police Department, as well as our dispatchers and deputies, for working together to bring this situation to a safe resolution,” said El Paso County Sheriff Joseph Roybal. “Their coordination, communication, and commitment to protecting the community helped ensure a safe outcome for everyone involved.”
Bryan Garcia was booked into the El Paso County Jail on the following charges:
-Driving Under Restraint
-Driving Under the Influence
-Possession of a Weapon by a Previous Offender
-Reckless Endangerment
-Vehicular Eluding
Garcia was released on a $2,000 bond, as determined by state statute.
Investigative information into the report of domestic violence concluded it was unfounded.
