Due to recent precipitation and a thorough analysis of current fire conditions across the Pikes Peak region, El Paso County Sheriff and Fire Warden Joseph Roybal has lifted the Stage I Fire Restrictions implemented on August 21, 2026, effective immediately.
El Paso County Sheriff Joseph Roybal said, “I appreciate our community’s cooperation and understanding while these restrictions were in place. The combination of high winds, dry conditions, and resource allocation across Colorado increased the risk of wildland fires, requiring us to take action to protect our communities. While conditions have improved, wildfire risk remains, and I ask everyone to continue exercising caution and personal responsibility when smoking outdoors, using campfires or grills, or engaging in any activity which could spark a fire or involve an open flame. Preventing a wildfire starts with each of us.”
